Scrumptious cheesy pastry for your Braai Pie

500 g flour

150 g Butter

1 pinch Salt

150 g Cheddar Cheese

250 ml Water



1Measure out your 500 grams of flour (Put straight into bowl after measuring)

2Measure out your cold water (Make sure it is cold!)

3Cut and measure your butter and cheese

4Place flour, salt, measured cheese/butter/water/flour in a semi-circle around your work space


1Add your flour and butter into mixing bowl

2Press and mix these ingredients until a flaky consistency. Add salt (1 pinch) and mix into ingredients.

3Add water (250ml) only after you’ve attained flaky consistency

4Mix again with hands (Pack and press, don't kneed)

5Once the mixture is one solid ball, wrap in cling plastic and place into refrigerator for 30-60 minutes to rest

6Once the mixture is rested you can start to explore vast array of recipes which require your own pastry!
