Smokey Chared Shad

1 medium size Shad

1Tbs ginger & garlic paste

1 tbs Fish Masala

2 tbs Soy Sauce

1 tps salt

1 tps pepper

2 Tbs Olive oil

1 lemon (large) to be used for Zest, juice & slices


1Fillet the shad. Remove fine bones.

2Place 2 fillers in preparation dish.

3In a separate bowl, mix all ingredients besides the lemon.

4Cut lemon in half.

5Zest approximately 1 Tbs and mix with other ingredients.

6Squeeze lemon juice of zested half into ingredients mix.

7Cut other half in rings.

8Mix well and pour over shad fillet and allow to marinate for 2 hours and above.

9Place foil on your grill, poke holes in your foil with tooth pick.


11Make sure the fire is on high heat.

12Soak your smoking wood chips in water.

13I use around 1 handfull

14Place your damp woodchips in the fire and place your fillet and cook for 2 min on fleshy side and 3-4mins on skin side.

15Grill lemon rings for 3-4min on eChnside

16Serve with chips & lemon slices
