Good questions

Before the first fire.

Are all cast-iron fireplaces freestanding?

No. This selection includes freestanding Wiking stoves and a fitted Dovre insert. Use the fitting filter to see the format you want.

Is a steel stove with a cast-iron door the same construction?

No. A cast-iron door does not make the body cast iron. The models here list cast-iron bodies; compare the exact construction and components on the product page.

Does cast iron mean closed combustion?

No. Cast iron describes material; closed combustion describes the firebox design and air control. The models selected here are enclosed fires, but the terms refer to different things.

Can I burn coal in a cast-iron stove?

Only if the manufacturer permits that fuel for your exact appliance. The material does not determine the permitted fuels. Follow the product’s operating instructions.

What size fireplace do I need?

Have your installer assess the room and compare the exact appliance’s output information. Material and a kW number alone do not guarantee coverage.

Will a cast-iron insert fit my existing opening?

Have the opening, support, chimney or flue and ventilation assessed. Use the exact insert’s body, trim, clearance and installation dimensions before ordering.

Are the flue and fitting included?

Check the included items on the product page. Flue components, hearth or surround work and installation may be separate. We sell and deliver fireplaces; we do not install them.

Do you deliver cast-iron fireplaces across South Africa?

Yes. Confirm delivery cost, availability, timing and receiving arrangements for the exact product and address before scheduling fitting work. Most cast-iron fireplaces are made or ordered for you, so delivery usually takes 10–12 working days.

Can I return a cast-iron fireplace?

Yes. If a cast-iron fireplace does not suit you, you can return it within 14 days. The Terms give the conditions.
