Who is responsible for your information?
Braai Culture is operated by ABCulture (Pty) Ltd, registration K2016/030961/07. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you browse braaiculture.com, shop with us, ask for a quote or contact our team. It covers your rights under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Last updated: 22 October 2026.
What do we collect?
- Details you give us: your name, email, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, and company details where needed for an invoice.
- Your shopping history: your cart, orders, quotes, payment status, delivery updates and any return or warranty requests.
- Conversations with us: the messages, photos and other information you send when you need help.
- Website activity: your IP address, device and browser details, approximate location, pages viewed, and advertising click identifiers. Cookies and similar tools help us collect this information.
You can browse without creating an account. To process an order or answer a question, we need the relevant contact and delivery details. Please only send information needed for your enquiry.
Why do we need it?
- To prepare quotes, take payment, deliver your order and provide after-sales support.
- To keep your account and shopping basket working.
- To send order and delivery updates by email, WhatsApp or SMS.
- To answer questions and handle returns, refunds and warranties.
- To keep our website secure, reduce fraud and meet accounting and other legal obligations.
- To understand how people use the shop, measure our advertising and show relevant adverts.
- To send news, recipes and offers when you have opted in. Every marketing email gives you a way to unsubscribe.
Depending on the purpose, we process information to fulfil your order or request, meet a legal obligation, protect a legitimate business interest, or with your consent. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it.
What about cookies?
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Some keep your basket, account and security features working. Others help us understand website use and measure advertising. Cookie identifiers and IP addresses can be personal information; cookies are not always anonymous.
Our first-party bc_click cookie stores advertising click identifiers for up to 90 days so that an enquiry or order can be connected to the advert that brought you here.
The small cookie notice explains our use of cookies. Clicking Got it dismisses it and remembers your acknowledgement in this browser for 12 months, using local storage and a first-party cookie. It does not change your analytics or advertising settings.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some shopping and sign-in features may then work differently. Clearing site data, changing browser or device, or using a new private browsing session may make the notice appear again.
You can also manage advertising preferences through Google’s My Ad Center and your Meta account settings.
How do we measure advertising?
Google Ads enhanced conversions can use a hashed version of customer information, such as your email address, to help match a website purchase to an advert. Hashing turns a value into a coded form; it does not make it anonymous.
For paid orders that start as a quote or enquiry, we record the advertising click identifier and purchase details. Where enhanced conversions for leads are enabled, we also send hashed email addresses and phone numbers to Google Ads to measure those purchases. This helps us understand which adverts led to an order.
How do we protect it, and how long do we keep it?
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information and restrict access to people who need it for their work. No online service can guarantee complete security.
We keep information for as long as needed for the reason it was collected, including order support, warranties and legal or accounting requirements. Different records have different retention periods. When information is no longer needed and we have no legal reason to keep it, we delete it or remove identifying details.
Some service providers process information outside South Africa. Where information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure the transfer meets POPIA’s requirements, including appropriate contractual or other safeguards.
What are your choices and rights?
You can ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold your personal information and give you access to it.
- Correct inaccurate details or delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
- Explain who we have shared your information with.
- Stop direct marketing or consider an objection to other processing.
- Record your withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis for processing.
Email [email protected] with your request. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity before sharing or changing personal records. Some records must be kept to meet legal obligations.
You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time. This does not stop messages needed to fulfil an existing order.
If you believe your information has been handled unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
