Portuguese peri-peri chicken

An all time favourite potuguese chicken braaied crispy on the outside yet succulent on the inside. Best served with rice, potatos and salad

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Cook: 49 mins


1 whole chicken

1 cup dry white wine

½ cup lemon juice

½ cup sunflower oil

2 tbsp paprika

2 tsp peri-peri

8 cloves garlic, grated


1In a large bowl, incorporate all the ingredients to make the marinade.

2Butterfly the chicken, using a sharp knife.

3Cover the chicken with the marinade overnight.

4Braai over hot/medium coals for 45 minutes.

5Serve with rice, potato and salad.
