THE FIRE
A closed fire you can watch.
The Rondo 490 burns dry wood behind one ceramic-glass front door. Closed combustion keeps the fire in the firebox, and the vermiculite inner boards line it, so you get the flames without the open hearth.

Load dry wood, close the ceramic-glass door and watch the flames settle in. Vermiculite boards line the firebox, and the Rondo 490 warms the room with radiated heat and convection together. The next few logs wait in the open store below the firebox, so a top-up is always within reach. The outer body is mild steel.
SLOW WINTER MORNINGS
A crisp morning, sun on the floorboards and a fire already crackling behind the glass. Pull a chair a little closer, top up from the log store and let the lounge warm up while the kettle boils. The Rondo 490 stands on its own, so it needs no built-in opening, only a hearth and a flue.
The hearth plate, flue pipe, furniture, plants, flowers and log basket are not included. Flue parts are options on this page. Plan the hearth, flue and clearances with an independent installer.
A LITTLE PRACTICAL THINKING
THE FIRE
The Rondo 490 burns dry wood behind one ceramic-glass front door. Closed combustion keeps the fire in the firebox, and the vermiculite inner boards line it, so you get the flames without the open hearth.
THE HEAT
The stove warms the room in two ways: heat radiates from the fire and the body, and convection moves warm air through the room. Ask us for the heat output before you plan your room.
THE WOOD
The open compartment below the firebox holds your next few logs, so topping up the fire is one easy reach. Keep the wood dry and the stove does the rest.
MEASURE THE WHOLE SETUP
Plan the stove, hearth and flue together.
The 930 mm body height does not include the flue, and the 1,200 mm flue section is a pipe length, not the chimney height. Have an independent installer confirm the hearth, floor protection and clearances for your room.
GOOD TO KNOW
Read the installation manual that comes with the stove before you plan the hearth and flue.

No. You can add 150 mm flue pipes in 1,200 mm sections, single or double-walled, a bend, a storm cowl, escutcheon plates and a ceramic blanket on this page. Send a photo, your room measurements and roof details for a flue and configuration quote, and we will confirm the right parts for your setup.
The body is 600 mm wide, 490 mm deep and 930 mm high, without the flue. These are the stove's own sizes, not a hearth or room size. Your installer confirms the hearth, the floor protection and the clearances to walls and furniture before you order.
