The 740 builds into one wall, with a black mild-steel façade framing the fire. Flames play over a coal-finish gas grate, set up for LPG, and as an open, vent-free firebox it needs no flue or chimney. At full flame it uses at most 0.56 kg of gas an hour, so you and your installer can plan the gas supply.

A QUIET NIGHT IN

What is included?
The HomeFires 740 built-in firebox, with its black mild-steel housing and façade, and the coal-finish gas grate, set up for LPG. The gas supply, the gas connection, the building work and the installation are not included.
Which gas does it use?
LPG. The coal-finish gas grate in this bundle (Home Fires grate model 600) is set up for LPG, and the gas type must match the data plate on the appliance. Home Fires also makes natural-gas versions: if your home runs on natural gas, ask us before you order.
How much gas does it use?
At full flame, at most 0.56 kg of gas an hour. Use the figure with your gas installer to plan your gas supply.
Does it need a flue or chimney?
No. It is an open, vent-free gas firebox, so there is no flue or chimney to build. Vent-free does not remove the room size and ventilation rules, so check those with us and your gas installer before you choose the room.
