This Grande leaves out the full mosaic design and keeps the focus on cooking. It bakes two large or three regular pizzas on a 775 mm floor, with a thermometer on hand and the lifter and coal rake ready. When the pizzas are done, close the door and the choke valve and the oven keeps its heat for something slow.
MAKE IT A FAMILY RECIPE
Gran shows how to press out the dough, the little one adds the toppings, and the oven waits, hot and ready. Two large or three regular pizzas go in together, so everyone's comes out at once. These are the Sunday mornings people remember.
The white masonry base and counter, firewood, food, plants and kitchen tools are not included. It needs a solid base of your own or the optional mobile stand.
A LITTLE PRACTICAL THINKING
THE FIRST FIRE
Burn a small fire for two hours before the first bake, and keep the oven under 200 °C. After that, the recommended pizza range is 280–300 °C, with 350 °C as the limit.
THE CARE
Scrape up spills with the coal rake, sweep out the ash and wipe the floor with a damp cloth. Leave cleaning chemicals out of the oven.
MEASURE THE WHOLE SETUP
Plan the base around the real oven.
The oven is 700 mm high from its base to the top of the neck and weighs 120 kg. Ask us for the outside width and depth before you build, and have an independent installer check the base and safe clearances.
GOOD TO KNOW
Read the instruction manual before you light the oven for the first time.
The Al Fresco Grande wood-fired pizza oven with removable handles, its door, a standard stainless-steel chimney, a thermometer, a pizza lifter and a coal rake. The Grande mobile stand is an optional extra, and the slide-out stainless-steel table is an option for that stand.
The photo shows the Clay Art finish, with mosaic tiles around the door, the neck and the base. Ask us which finish we can supply before you order.
Two large or three regular pizzas at a time. Inside, the cooking floor is 775 mm across, and the door opening is 470 mm wide and 235 mm high.
Dry hardwood. Do not use charcoal to heat it, and never burn laminated, painted or treated wood.
We recommend 280–300 °C for pizza and no more than 350 °C. The included thermometer shows you the heat.
Light a small fire and keep it going for two hours, with the oven under 200 °C. For every fire after that, open the chimney choke valve and the door while the oven heats.
Yes. For slow baking without a direct flame, close the door and the choke valve so the oven holds its heat.
No. Without it, build a solid base that carries 120 kg. If you add the stand, lock the wheels before you fit the chimney or use the table, remove the chimney before moving over uneven ground, and do not overload the table.
The oven is 700 mm high without the chimney, measured from its base to the top of the neck. The included chimney is 800 mm long as a part, which is not the height it adds. Ask us to confirm the outside width and depth before you plan the space.
Ask us and we will send you the current Al Fresco guarantee terms before you order.
Yes. Send a photo and measurements of your space, and we will help you plan the oven, the base or stand and the chimney. We do not install: an independent installer can do the building work.
