What does it fit?
A brick chimney. Homefires makes this bolt-on cowl for brick chimneys, in the size it calls 350 × 500 (Large). Measure the top of your chimney, then send us a photo and the measurements before you order. We will confirm the size with you.
Is this the whole cowl or just the base?
The whole cowl, as in the photo: the cowl top with its bolt-on base. The bolt-on base in the name is the part that fixes to the chimney: it has flanges and pre-drilled bolt holes. Homefires also lists the base on its own, for use with a matching cowl top. Ask us if that is what you need.
What does the cowl do?
It protects the top of your chimney from rain and debris, while still letting air through for ventilation.
How is it fixed?
The base has flanges with pre-drilled bolt holes for fixing to the brickwork of the chimney. Homefires calls for waterproofing between the base and the brickwork when the cowl goes in. Ask us about the fixings for your chimney before you order. We do not install, so arrange fitting with an independent installer.
How heavy is it?
Homefires lists the complete cowl at 9 kg. Plan how it will be lifted onto the roof.
