The TAI 55 takes logs up to 55 cm long, so you spend less time sawing and more time by the fire. Slip them in through the side door and watch the flames through the glass. Secondary combustion works on the fire, and the refractory floor has an ash hatch, so the ash goes down into the ash tray for an easy clean-up.

WINTER, THE GOOD KIND
Hot chocolate and a fire to share.
Cold outside, warm inside. Mugs of hot chocolate go round, the dog stretches out on the rug and the kids sit as close to the fire as they are allowed. Add another long log through the side door and nobody has to leave the room.
The flue pipe, slate hearth, stone wall, furniture and décor are not included. Have an independent installer confirm the hearth, flue route and clearances.

THE ASH
An ash hatch in the floor.
The refractory floor has an ash hatch above the ash tray, so clearing the ash after a long night stays a quick job. Let the ash cool fully before you empty the tray.

The 150 mm flue connects on top or at the rear. On top, its centre is 102 mm from the back; at the rear, 665 mm above the floor. Plan the route with an independent installer.

What is included?
The Dovre TAI 55 V2 stove in black, with the front door, the side loading door and an ash tray. Flue pipes and accessories are not included, and neither are the hearth plate or the installation.
Which fuel does it burn?
Wood. The firebox takes logs up to 55 cm long, and the side door makes loading them easy. Burn dry firewood and follow the manual supplied with the stove.
How much heat does it give?
Ask us for the heat output before you plan your room. The figures for this model differ, so we confirm the South African version with the supplier before we give you a number.
How do I clear the ash?
The refractory floor has an ash hatch, and the ash tray sits below it. Clear the ash into the tray, let it cool fully and then empty it.
Where does the flue connect?
On top or at the rear, through a 150 mm flue connection. On top, the centre is 102 mm from the rear of the stove, and the collar brings the height to 840 mm. At the rear, the centre is 665 mm above the floor. Plan the route with an independent installer.
Is the flue included?
No. Flue pipes and accessories are not included, because they depend on your room and roof. Send a photo, your room measurements and roof details for a product and flue configuration quote.
How much space does it need?
The stove is 715 mm wide, 800 mm high (840 mm with the top collar) and 425 mm deep, and it weighs 160 kg. The minimum distances to combustible materials are 1,400 mm in front, 500 mm at the sides, 600 mm behind and 750 mm above, and 100 mm to non-combustible materials. Your installer confirms the clearances and the hearth.
Is it freestanding?
Yes. The TAI 55 is a freestanding closed-combustion wood stove on four legs, so it needs no built-in opening. Place it on a suitable hearth, with the clearances in the manual.
What does the guarantee cover?
The main stove body has a five-year limited warranty from the South African distributor, and electrical components have one year where there are any. Exclusions and claim conditions apply, so ask us for the full terms.
