The 1090 is a wide firebox built into a single wall, with a black mild-steel façade and an open front. Gas flames rise over a coal-finish grate, and as a vent-free fire it has no flue connection, so there is no chimney to build and no logs to carry in. Just a warm glow at the end of a long day.

THE CITY OUTSIDE, THE FIRE IN
Lights low, flames up.
The city lights come on outside, the lamp goes low and the fire does the rest. Set flush in a plastered wall, the 1090 turns the lounge into the warmest spot in the flat, with flames over the coals and no logs to fetch. Pour something nice and stay a while.
The wall, coffee table, rug, shelves, plants and décor are not included. Plan the wall opening, gas supply and ventilation with a registered gas installer.

A vent-free gas fire needs no flue, but room size and ventilation rules still apply. Ask us for the requirements for this firebox and grate before you order, and have a registered gas installer check your room.
THE GAS
The LPG coal grate.
The grate supplied is the LPG version of the model 800 coal grate, and it uses up to 0.64 kg of gas an hour. Home Fires also makes natural-gas versions: tell us before you order if you need one.

What is included?
The HomeFires Built-in 1090 firebox, with its black mild-steel housing and façade, and a coal-finish gas grate (model 800). The wall opening, the gas supply pipework and the installation are not included.
Which gas does it use?
The coal grate supplied with this firebox is the LPG version. Home Fires also makes natural-gas versions, and the gas type installed must match the burner you order, so tell us before you order if you need natural gas.
Does it need a flue or chimney?
No. It is an open, vent-free firebox with no flue connection, so there is no chimney to build. Vent-free does not remove the room size and ventilation rules: check those with us and your gas installer before you choose the room.
What size room is it for?
Ask us before you order. We confirm the room size and ventilation needs for this firebox and grate with Home Fires, and your registered gas installer then checks your room.
How much heat does it give?
We do not list a heat output for this firebox and grate, so the Output Calculator has no figure for it. Ask us, and we will check it with Home Fires.

It is made for a single-sided built-in installation into a wall. The black façade stands 90 mm past the body at each side and 40 mm below it, so it frames the opening on the wall face. Have your registered gas installer plan the opening, the gas supply and the clearances.
How much space do I need?
The façade is 1,090 mm wide and 935 mm high. The body behind it is 910 mm wide, 835 mm high and 450 mm deep. Its top is flat for the first 100 mm and then slopes down to a rear upright 575 mm high. These are product sizes, not a building opening, so have your installer measure the actual unit.
How big is the gas grate?
The coal-finish grate is 750 mm wide, 270 mm deep and 200 mm high.
