THE CLASSIC 800

A real flame, set into the wall.

The Classic 800 is a flueless gas fireplace that sits in an opening in your wall, so there is no chimney to build. Flames rise from black ceramic ash with a white-stone surround, a piezo spark lights it, and a pilot oxygen-depletion system is part of its safety setup. Choose a stainless or black frame, with a plain stainless or Midnight Mirror back.

LIGHTS LOW, FIRE ON

A warm glow at the end of the day.

Evening settles in, the shelves glow and a bowl of protea and fynbos waits on the low table. Set flush into the wall, the Classic 800 lights at the click of a spark and fills the lounge with a warm flame, with no wood to carry in and no ash to sweep. Pour something warm and stay a while.

The wall, shelving, furniture, flowers and décor are not included. The coals shown are an alternative to the standard black ash. A registered gas installer builds in and connects the fireplace.

THE OPENING

Made for a wall opening.

It fits an 800 × 520 mm opening in the wall, 250 to 300 mm deep, with a load-bearing lintel above it. Plan the opening with your gas installer before you build.

THE ROOM

Pick the right room.

Without permanent ventilation, the room must be at least 160 m³. Chad-O-Chef suggests it for rooms up to 399 m³ (108 m²), subject to room conditions.

THE GAS

LPG or natural gas.

Choose LPG or natural gas. On LPG it uses at most 0.64 kg an hour, and its maximum gas input is 8.7 kW. A gas installer registered with SAQCC Gas for your gas type installs it.

Plan the wall opening before you build.

The front frame is 1,035 × 600 mm and the body behind it 780 × 500 mm. From the back of the body it is 220 mm to the frame and 280 mm to the front of the curved cover. Your gas installer checks the actual unit, the opening and the clearances.

What is included?

The Classic 800 fireplace in the frame and back finish you choose, with the burner, the decorative stones and the instruction manual. The wall opening, the lintel, the gas supply pipework and the installation are not included.

Which finishes can I choose?

A stainless or black frame, with a plain stainless or a Midnight Mirror back: four combinations on this page. The fireplace is made of stainless steel with heat-resistant coatings.

Which gas does it use?

LPG or natural gas. Confirm your gas type with us before you order. On LPG it uses at most 0.64 kg of gas an hour.

What size room is it for?

Chad-O-Chef suggests it for rooms up to 399 m³ (108 m²), subject to room conditions. Its maximum gas input is 8.7 kW. Ask us to check it against your room.

Does it need a flue or chimney?

No. It is a flueless gas fireplace, so there is no flue or chimney to build. A pilot oxygen-depletion system, with an 18.5% oxygen minimum, is part of its safety system.

Does the room need ventilation?

Without permanent ventilation, the room must be at least 160 m³. A smaller room needs permanent ventilation, planned by your gas installer with the manual.

How is it built in?

It fits an 800 × 520 mm opening in the wall; Chad-O-Chef recommends a depth of 250 to 300 mm. A load-bearing lintel must support the wall above the opening. A gas installer registered with SAQCC Gas for your gas type installs and connects it.

How much clear space does it need?

To combustible materials, keep at least 100 mm at the sides (500 mm to curtains and fabric), 800 mm to the ceiling, 100 mm to the floor, carpet included, and 1,000 mm to furniture in front. Your installer follows the full manual.

Which stones can I choose?

Black ceramic ash with a white-stone surround is the standard. Coals or fire glass are alternatives, so ask us before you order. Our photos show the coals.

What does the guarantee cover?

Chad-O-Chef gives a two-year guarantee on the fireplace, subject to its terms and conditions. Ask us for the full terms.

Can you help with my setup?

Yes. Send a photo and measurements of your wall for a product and configuration quote. We do not install, so arrange installation with an independent, registered gas installer.
