Ready to build in.
Build the fire in the ember maker on the right, then move fresh coals under the full-length grid as you cook. Hang a potjie from the hook for something slow. When the fire is done, cold ash goes through a disposal trap into the ash drawer, and the top and bottom doors close it all up.

Body and gather heights add to 1,175 mm before the flue. These are product dimensions, not a building opening, so have your installer check the actual unit, door movement and safe clearances.

What is included?
The 1000 Deluxe braai with top and bottom doors, a 750 × 460 mm full-length cooking grid, grid lifters, an ember maker, an ash pan, an ash disposal trap and ash drawer, a potjie hook and a light fitting. A poker, insulation material, touch-up paint, the instruction manual and a guarantee certificate also come with it.
Which fuel can I use?
Wood or charcoal. Burn wood in the ember maker beside the grid and rake the coals across as you cook.
How much cooking space is there?
The full-length cooking grid is 750 × 460 mm, with the ember maker to its right. Grid lifters come with it, and the potjie hook takes a potjie.
Is the flue included?
No. This is the braai on its own, without a flue bundle. Flue pipes and the cowl are sold separately. The flue outlet is 440 × 350 mm. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote.
How much space do I need?
The body is 1,030 mm wide, 535 mm deep and 855 mm high, and the gather rises 320 mm above it. The front frame is 1,090 mm wide and 880 mm high. The lower door projects 455 mm when open. These are product dimensions, not a building opening. Have your installer check the actual unit and safe clearances before building.
Does it have a warming drawer?
No. The 1000 Deluxe has an ash pan and ash drawer below the fire, but no warming drawer.
Can it be installed indoors?
Yes. Homefires built-in braais are listed for indoor or outdoor installation. Your installer must follow the installation manual that comes with the unit. The braai needs suitable masonry support and a correctly designed chimney. Ask a competent installer to confirm the location, clearances and ventilation.
What does the guarantee cover?
The firebox has a 15-year Homefires guarantee from the date of purchase against faulty workmanship or materials, including warping, when the fire is made in the ember maker or the ash pan. The grid, ember maker, ash pan and other replaceable parts are not covered, and neither is rust from missing maintenance, misuse or water leaks, or damage from incorrect installation. Keep the braai painted and maintained. The guarantee certificate in the box has the full terms.
How do I look after the finish?
Touch-up paint comes with the braai, so you can refresh small marks on the black mild steel. Keep the braai dry and empty cold ash regularly.
