The 850 New Shape is an open fireplace that you build in, with a mild-steel body and a stainless-steel trim up front. Burn wood or anthracite on the fire grate, set the built-in damper and let the natural convection system carry the warmth into the room. The trim plate is detachable and the top is flat, which helps when it goes into an existing cavity.

AFTERNOONS AT HOME

A favourite book on the couch, the afternoon sun coming in and a fire going in the wall. The 850 New Shape keeps the family room warm while the pages turn, and the stainless trim catches the glow. Later, the same fire sees everyone through supper and one more story.
The chimney breast, hearth, furniture, artwork, plants and décor are not included. Plan the flue, hearth and clearances with an independent installer.

THE TRIM
Made for an existing cavity.
The trim plate is detachable and the top is flat, so the fireplace is easier to fit into an existing cavity. Your installer confirms the opening for your wall.
THE FLUE
Flue parts in the 420 × 220 size.
The outlet opening on the flat top measures 430 × 230 mm. The flue parts on this page use the 420 × 220 nominal size: pipes in 1,200 mm and 2,400 mm lengths, joining collars and a cowl.

The 1,045 × 835 mm trim plate is wider and taller than the body. These are product sizes, not the masonry opening: leave a 20 mm expansion gap at the sides and back, and have your installer check the actual unit and safe clearances.

What is included?
The 850 New Shape built-in fireplace: a mild-steel convection body with a stainless-steel trim, a fire grate, a grid, an ash drawer, a built-in damper system and a natural convection system. Insulation material, touch-up paint and a guarantee certificate come with it. The flue pipes, joining collars and cowl are options, sold separately.
Which fuel does it burn?
Wood or anthracite, on the fire grate. It is a vented, open fireplace, so it needs a flue.
How much heat does it give?
Homefires gives a heating volume of 140 m³ for the 850 New Shape. We do not have a heat output rating for this model, so send us your room sizes and we will check them with you before you order.
Is it all stainless steel?
No. The body is mild steel and the trim, the fascia up front, is stainless steel. Fully stainless versions are separate special orders: ask us if you need one.
Is the flue included?
No. The 420 × 220 flue pipes (1,200 mm and 2,400 mm lengths), joining collars and a cowl are options that you choose on this page. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote, and we will confirm the parts, including the right cowl, for your setup.
Where does the flue connect?
At the outlet opening on the flat top, 430 × 230 mm. The flue parts use the 420 × 220 nominal size. Homefires asks for a chimney at least 3.6 m high; your installer confirms the height for your roof.
How much space does it need?
The body front is 845 mm wide, and the body is 480 mm deep and 755 mm high. The trim plate is 1,045 mm wide and 835 mm high. On top, the outer span is 885 mm and the inner span 860 mm. These are product sizes, not the masonry opening. Have your installer check the actual unit and safe clearances before building.
What clearances does it need?
Leave a 20 mm expansion gap between the sides and back of the body and the brickwork. Keep heat-sensitive materials at the sides 300 mm away, and keep a mantel at least 450 mm above the hot-air outlet. The manual has the full instructions.
What hearth does it need?
Extend the hearth at least 350 mm in front of the fireplace and at least 200 mm at the sides. Keep the metal flue at least 200 mm from wood trusses. Your independent installer confirms the details for your building.
How do I look after it?
Touch-up paint comes with the fireplace, so you can refresh small marks. Empty the ash drawer once the ash is cold.
What does the guarantee cover?
A guarantee certificate comes with the fireplace. Ask us for Homefires' full guarantee terms before you order.
Can you help with my setup?
Yes. Send a photo and measurements for a product and flue configuration quote. We do not install, so arrange installation with an independent installer.
