A wide stainless frame around a coal-bed fire.
The 1090 builds into your wall, with a stainless-steel façade framing an open gas fire on a coal grate. It is vent-free, so there is no flue to plan, and it runs on LPG, using at most 0.64 kg of gas an hour. Behind the façade, the body is mild steel. No wood to carry in, no chimney to sweep: just a warm room.
A registered gas installer must fit and connect the fireplace.

THE GRATE
A wide coal bed.
The coal gas grate is 750 mm wide, 270 mm deep and 200 mm high. It sits in the mild-steel body, behind the stainless-steel façade.

What is included?
The 1090 vent-free gas firebox, with its stainless-steel façade on a mild-steel body, and the coal gas grate, set up for LPG. The gas supply, the gas connection and the building work are not included.
Which gas does it use?
LPG. At its maximum, the coal gas grate uses 0.64 kg of gas an hour.
Can I use natural gas?
This firebox comes with the LPG grate. Home Fires also makes natural-gas grates for this range, with their own gas specification. If your home has natural gas, ask us before you order, so we can confirm the right grate with Home Fires.
Does it need a flue or chimney?
No flue: this is an open, vent-free gas firebox. Your registered gas installer confirms that your room and its ventilation suit the fireplace before it is fitted.
How much space do I need?
The stainless-steel façade is 1,090 mm wide and 935 mm high. Behind it, the body is 910 mm wide, 835 mm high at the front, 575 mm high at the rear and 450 mm deep. The façade reaches 90 mm beyond each side of the body and 40 mm below it. These are product dimensions, not a cut-out. Have your installer plan the opening and safe clearances.
How big a room will it warm?
Send us the size of the room you want to warm, and we will confirm with Home Fires that the 1090 suits it before you order.
