COME IN FROM THE COLD
Flames on, feet up.
The lamps are low, the throw is on the couch and gas flames dance over the coals. Your old fireplace is back in use, with no wood to carry in. Pour something warm, put your feet up and let the evening slow right down.
The fireplace and its surround, the couch, rug, side tables, lamp, plants and candles are not included. A registered gas installer fits the grate and closes off the chimney.

THE CHIMNEY
No flue to build.
The 600 Universal Grate is flueless, so the existing chimney is closed off when your registered gas installer fits it. Keep it out of bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets and saunas.
THE GAS
LPG or natural gas.
It comes in a version for each. On LPG it uses up to 0.56 kg of gas an hour at 2.8 kPa, and the natural-gas version runs at 2.0 kPa. Tell us your gas type before you order.

The grate is 550 mm wide, 270 mm deep and 200 mm high. These are the grate's own sizes, not a masonry opening, so have your registered gas installer check your fireplace and the safe clearances before fitting.

What is included?

Will it work in my fireplace?
It is made to convert an existing single-sided wood-burning fireplace to flueless gas. The grate is 550 mm wide, 270 mm deep and 200 mm high. Send us a photo and the measurements of your fireplace, and have your installer check the fit and the clearances on site.
Does it run on LPG or natural gas?
It comes in a version for each. Tell us your gas type before you order, so that we can confirm the right version. On LPG it uses up to 0.56 kg of gas an hour at an operating pressure of 2.8 kPa; the natural-gas version runs at 2.0 kPa. The gas connects at an 8 mm compression inlet.
What happens to my chimney?
The grate is flueless, so the existing chimney needs to be closed off. Your registered gas installer does this as part of the conversion.
How big a room can it heat?
It gives radiant heat. We recommend it for rooms of up to 344 m³ (103 m²), depending on the conditions in the room.
Where in the house can it go?
Not in bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets or saunas. Your installer checks the room against the instruction manual before fitting.
What clearances does it need?
Keep combustible materials 100 mm from its sides, and curtains or fabric 500 mm away. Leave 800 mm to the ceiling, 100 mm to the floor (carpet included) and 1,000 mm to combustible furniture in front.
Which finish can I choose?
You can choose black ceramic coals or fire glass on the burner. Tell us which one you want before you order.
How do I light it?
With the piezo ignition. An oxygen depletion safety system is part of the grate's safety setup.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. The fireplace has a two-year Chad-O-Chef guarantee, subject to its terms. Ask us for the full terms.
Can you help with my setup?
Yes. Send a photo and measurements of your fireplace for a product and configuration quote. We do not install, so book an independent gas installer, registered for your gas type.
