The Double Sided 1000 is an indoor flueless gas fireplace that sits in an opening through a double brick wall, so the lounge and the dining room share the same flames. It runs on LPG or natural gas, lights with a piezo spark and has an oxygen depletion pilot for safety. The flames rise from black ash with white stones around it.

The lounge on the other.
The table is set behind the fire, the lounge is ready in front of it, and one gas flame glows for both. The Double Sided 1000 warms the open-plan space with flames rising from a bed of white stones, no wood to carry and no ash to sweep. Supper can wait a few more minutes.
The wall, the furniture, the table setting and décor are not included. A registered gas installer builds in and connects the fireplace.

Chad-O-Chef suggests it for rooms up to 416 m³ (131 m²). It must not go in a bedroom, bathroom, toilet or sauna, and a room below the manual's minimum needs permanent ventilation.
THE GAS
LPG or natural gas.
Choose LPG or natural gas. On LPG it uses at most 0.75 kg an hour. A gas installer registered for your gas type installs it, and a qualified gas installer services it at least every two years.

Plan the wall opening before you build.
The frame is 1,220 mm wide and the body 980 mm wide and 510 mm high, with 250 mm between the two frame planes. These are product sizes: your gas installer confirms the cut-out, the frame height and the covers that stand out from the frames.

What is included?
The Double Sided 1000 fireplace in the frame finish you choose, with the burner, the decorative stones and the instruction manual. The wall opening, the lintels, the gas supply pipework and the installation are not included.
Which gas does it use?
LPG or natural gas. Confirm your gas type with us before you order. On LPG it uses at most 0.75 kg of gas an hour.
What size room is it for?
Chad-O-Chef suggests it for rooms up to 416 m³ (131 m²); the right size depends on insulation, climate and room conditions. Its maximum gas input is 10.2 kW. Ask us to check the size against your room.
Does it need a flue or chimney?
No. It is an indoor flueless gas fireplace, so there is no flue or chimney to build. An oxygen depletion pilot is part of its safety system. Check the room and ventilation answers below before you choose its place.
Which rooms can it go in?
Not in a bedroom, bathroom, toilet or sauna. A room below the minimum size in the manual needs permanent ventilation, designed by your installer. Chad-O-Chef also recommends keeping it 500 mm from an air vent.
How is it built in?
It fits an opening through a double brick wall, supported by two load-bearing lintels. The cut-out is 550 mm high, and the manual gives the width from the body size. A gas installer registered for your gas type installs it and connects the gas at the 8 mm inlet.
How much clear space does it need?
To combustible materials, keep at least 100 mm at the sides (500 mm to curtains and fabric), 800 mm to the ceiling and 100 mm to the floor, carpet included, and 1,000 mm to combustible furniture in front. Your installer follows the full manual.
Can I put a shelf or a TV above it?
A heat-resistant masonry shelf may sit 500 mm above the fireplace. Never put a TV or other electrical equipment above it.
Which frame and stones can I choose?
Choose a stainless-steel or a matt black frame on this page. Black ash with a white stone surround is the standard burner finish; black coals or fire glass are alternatives, so ask us before you order. The fireplace is made of stainless steel and black mild steel with heat-resistant coatings, depending on the finish.
How do I look after it?
Have a qualified gas installer service it at least once every two years, and at the first sign of a fault.
What does the guarantee cover?
Chad-O-Chef gives a two-year guarantee, subject to its terms and conditions. Ask us for the full terms.
Can you help with my setup?
Yes. Send a photo and measurements of your wall for a product and configuration quote. We do not install, so arrange installation with an independent, registered gas installer.
