The Rock 350 is a compact 510 mm wide: plan its position and clearances with an independent installer. One air control sets the fire, and the slam-lock door latches as you close it. Logs up to 35 cm go in, and secondary combustion and a refractory floor with an ash hatch do the rest, at 80% efficiency at nominal output. The flue connects at the top or the rear.
Dovre's manual says not to place firewood underneath the stove, so keep your logs in a basket nearby.
A QUIET AFTERNOON IN
Some afternoons belong to the armchair. Light a few logs, pour a coffee and catch up on the paper while the fire burns steadily beside the bookshelf. At 510 mm wide, the Rock 350 keeps the flames in view.
The flue pipe, hearth plate, firewood, log basket, furniture and décor are not included. Dovre advises against storing firewood under the stove. Have an independent installer confirm the hearth, flue route and clearances.
BEFORE THE FIRST FIRE
THE HEAT
Dovre rates the Rock 350 at 7 kW nominal output, at 80% efficiency, and the South African distributor lists a maximum of 9 kW. The Output Calculator uses 8 kW, the middle of the two.
THE FIRE
One air control, a slam-lock door and room for logs up to 35 cm long. The fire burns on a refractory floor with an ash hatch, with secondary combustion, and an ash tray comes with the stove.
THE CONNECTIONS
The 150 mm flue connects at the top or the rear, which helps when you plan around a wall or a chimney. A 100 mm outside-air connection lets the fire take its air from outside.
MEASURE THE WHOLE SETUP
Plan the stove, hearth and flue together.
These are the stove's own sizes, not a hearth or room size, and the 510 mm width does not include the handle. Dovre asks for 1,400 mm to combustible materials in front, so plan the whole space with an independent installer and the manual.
GOOD TO KNOW
Read your instruction manual before you plan the installation.
