A flat top.
An easier fit.

The New Shape has a flat-top casing, so it slides more easily into an existing cavity. Burn wood or anthracite on the fire grate, set the built-in damper and let the natural convection system spread the warmth. The ash drops into the ash drawer, the black mild-steel trim plate is detachable and touch-up paint keeps it looking fresh.

EVENINGS IN THE LOUNGE

Pull the armchairs closer.

The day is done, the lamps are low and the logs are burning bright in the face-brick wall. Two armchairs, a warm glow and nowhere else to be. Built into the chimney breast, the 850 New Shape turns a quiet evening into the best part of the day.

The face-brick chimney breast, tiled hearth, firewood, furniture and décor are not included. Plan the hearth, flue and clearances with an independent installer.

THE FIRE

Wood or anthracite.

Burn wood or anthracite on the fire grate and use the built-in damper to manage the fire. It is a fireplace, not a braai: Home Fires says not to prepare food in it.

THE HEAT

Natural convection, built in.

A natural convection system is built in. Homefires gives a heating volume of 140 m³ for the 850, so send us your room sizes and we will check them with you.

THE FLUE

Flue parts in the 420 × 220 size.

The outlet opening on top measures 430 × 230 mm. The flue parts on this page use the 420 × 220 nominal size: a flue pipe, a collar and a fixed or rotating cowl.

The casing is 755 mm high and 480 mm deep, behind a 1,045 × 835 mm trim plate. These are product sizes, not the masonry opening: leave a 20 mm expansion gap at the sides and back, and have your installer check the actual unit and safe clearances.

What is included?

The 850 New Shape built-in fireplace with its detachable black mild-steel trim plate, a fire grate, a grid, an ash drawer, a built-in damper system and a natural convection system. Insulation material, touch-up paint and a guarantee certificate come with it. The flue pipe, collar and cowl are options, sold separately.

Which fuel does it burn?

Wood or anthracite, on the fire grate. Ask us before you plan to burn anything else. It is a fireplace, not a braai: Home Fires says not to prepare food in it.

How much heat does it give?

Homefires gives a heating volume of 140 m³ for the 850 New Shape. That is a room-volume guide, not a heat output, and we do not have a kW rating for this model. Send us your room sizes and we will check them with you before you order.

Will it fit my existing cavity?

The New Shape has a flat-top casing for easier insertion into existing cavities. The front is 845 mm wide, the casing 480 mm deep and 755 mm high, and the top 885 mm wide outside. Send us a photo and the sizes of your cavity, and have your installer confirm the fit, with a 20 mm expansion gap at the sides and back.

Is the flue included?

No. The 420 × 220 flue pipe, the collar and a fixed or rotating cowl are options that you choose on this page. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote, and we will confirm the parts for your setup.

Where does the flue connect?

At the outlet opening on top of the casing, 430 × 230 mm. The flue parts use the 420 × 220 nominal size. Homefires asks for a chimney at least 3.6 m high; your installer confirms the height for your roof.

What clearances does it need?

Leave a 20 mm expansion gap between the sides and back of the casing and the brickwork. Keep heat-sensitive materials at the sides 300 mm away, and keep a heat-sensitive shelf or mantel at least 450 mm above the hot-air outlet. The manual has the full instructions.

What hearth does it need?

Extend the hearth at least 350 mm in front of the fireplace and at least 200 mm at the sides. Keep the metal flue at least 200 mm from wood trusses, with the insulation the manual describes. Your independent installer confirms the details for your building.

What does the guarantee cover?

A guarantee certificate comes with the fireplace. Ask us for Homefires' full guarantee terms before you order.
