How delivery works

DeliveryHow it works

Because most of our products are huge, it’s difficult for us to keep stock of all of them. For this reason, we deliver a lot of our products directly from our suppliers and manufacturers, to offer you a great price and a fresh braai and a warm fireplace.

PRIORITY DELIVERYWe will make sure you are kept in the loop at every single step of the way and we will have your order processed as a priority. Tracking number included.

FREE DELIVERYLook, it’s free but we are unable to provide an exact time or take specific delivery requests as we are at the mercy of our suppliers. We still do our best to deliver as quickly as possible and in most cases we are much quicker than the stated turn around time.

MORE ABOUT THE XN087

Cast iron all round.
Flue on top or behind.

The XN087 is a full cast-iron, closed-combustion stove for dry wood or anthracite. Riddle the grate and the ash drops into the pan below, ready to empty once it is cold. Your installer can take the flue off the top or the back, whichever suits the room. At 151 kg it is a solid piece, so plan the move and the hearth early.

AN EVENING IN THE COTTAGE

Your move.
The fire can wait.

Terracotta underfoot, the evening drawing in and a game of chess at the table. Light the XN087, settle in and take your time over the next move. The wide glass door keeps the fire in view while the room warms around you.

The flue pipe, hearth, table, chairs, chess set and décor are not included. Have an independent installer confirm the hearth, flue route and clearances.

A LITTLE PRACTICAL THINKING

Plan the heat, the flue and the room.

THE HEAT

12 kW nominal, up to 16 kW.

Home Fires rates the XN087 at 12 kW nominal and 16 kW maximum heat output: the 12–16 kW in its name. The Output Calculator uses 14 kW, the middle of the two, to compare with your room.

THE FLUE

On top or at the back.

Connect a 150 mm nominal flue pipe on top or at the rear, whichever suits the room. Send us a photo and measurements for a flue quote, and we will help you choose the parts.

THE ROOM

Give it space to breathe.

The manual asks for 1,000 mm between the stove and household furnishings, and recommends 800 mm from combustible materials. Leave 1,200 mm above it to a combustible ceiling.

GOOD TO KNOW

Plan your setup.

Read your instruction manual before you plan the installation.

What is included?

The WIKING XN087 cast-iron stove, with its riddling grate and ash pan. Flue pipes, accessories and installation are not included: we quote the flue parts for your setup.

Which fuel can I burn?

Dry wood and anthracite only. Keep your firewood dry, and burn nothing else in it.

How much heat does it give?

12 kW nominal and up to 16 kW maximum heat output. The Output Calculator uses 14 kW, the middle of the two. Insulation, ceiling height and climate change how warm a room feels.

Where does the flue connect?

On top or at the rear, for a 150 mm nominal flue pipe. The manual gives the outlet socket's inside diameter as 152 to 157 mm, and our drawing shows it at Ø152.6 mm. Have an independent installer choose the outlet and plan the flue route, height and support.

Is the flue included?

No. Flue pipes and accessories are sold separately, because they depend on your room and roof. Send a photo and measurements for a product and flue configuration quote, and we will help you choose the right parts.

How much space does it need?

The stove is 710 mm wide at the top plate (714 mm at its widest), 497.6 mm deep, and 725.6 mm high to the top plate or 762.1 mm to the top of the flue collar. The manual asks for 1,000 mm to household furnishings, recommends 800 mm from combustible materials, and asks for 1,200 mm above it to a combustible ceiling.

What hearth does it need?

The manual asks for a solid, non-combustible constructional hearth at least 125 mm thick, finishes included, with an extra 400 mm at the front for any hot material that falls out. Your installer confirms the hearth for your floor and room.

Can it stand in a recess?

Yes, with permanent free air around it: 200 mm at the sides, 200 mm above and 150 mm behind, as the manual sets out. These gaps apply only in a recess. Have your installer check the opening and the flue before you build.

How heavy is it?

The net weight is 151 kg. Plan how it will be moved into place, and have your installer check that the floor and the hearth can carry it.

How does the riddling grate work?

Riddle the grate to drop the ash into the ash pan below and keep the fire bed clear. Empty the ash pan only once the ash is completely cold.

What does the guarantee cover?

Ask us for the current guarantee terms for the XN087 before you order. Home Fires confirms them, and we pass them on to you.

Can you help with my setup?

Yes. Send a photo and your room measurements for a product and flue configuration quote. We do not install, so arrange installation with an independent installer.
