Build the fire in the ember maker, cook on the full-length grid and keep the next round warm in the drawer below. Cold ash goes through a disposal trap into the ash drawer. The two 1.2 m flue sections join with the collar and finish with a slip-on base and rotating cowl, so the flue essentials arrive with the braai.
Have the full chimney route checked for your building. Extra flue sections and collars can be added as options.

Surround, counters, furniture and food are not included; the bundled flue sections, collar, base and cowl are. Confirm the opening, support and flue route with an independent installer.

What is included in the bundle?
The braai with its full-length grid, grid lifters, ember maker, potjie hook, ash pan, ash disposal trap and ash drawer, warming drawer, single slide-in door and light fitting. A spade, poker, insulation, touch-up paint, guarantee certificate and instruction manual come with it, plus two 1.2 m flue sections, a joining collar, a slip-on cowl base and a rotating cowl.
Which fuel can I use?
Wood or charcoal. Use dry, seasoned firewood, good-quality charcoal or briquettes. Do not burn treated timber, painted wood or household waste.
How much cooking space is there?
The full-length grid is 750 mm wide and 460 mm deep. The ember maker keeps fresh coals coming, and the warming drawer holds food that is ready.
Which flue fits?
The included sections have a 440 × 340 mm profile and are 1.2 m long each, giving 2.4 m before joint overlap. The braai’s flue outlet is 440 × 350 mm. For a longer route, send your measurements for a flue and configuration quote.
Is 2.4 m of flue enough?
That depends on your building. Installed height depends on the route and joint overlap, and the roof and nearby obstructions can call for more. Ask your installer to confirm the chimney height, supports and weatherproofing.
What space does the braai need?
The body is 1,045 mm wide, 535 mm deep and 890 mm high, with a 320 mm gather above it. The front frame is 1,145 × 920 mm. These are product dimensions, not a finished opening size. Have your installer check the slide-in door’s movement on the actual unit.
Can it go indoors?
Yes. Homefires built-in braais may be installed indoors or outdoors. Have an independent installer plan the chimney, insulation and safe clearances for your space.
How do I care for it?
Let ash cool fully before you move it, and use a metal container with a lid. Check the flue and rotating cowl regularly, keep the braai dry and use the touch-up paint when needed.
What does the warranty cover?
The 15-year warranty covers the firebox against faulty material or workmanship under normal use. Replaceable parts, rust, misuse and damage from incorrect installation are excluded. Correct installation and regular maintenance are required. Keep your purchase and guarantee documents.
