Stack wood or anthracite on the basket grate and watch the flames through glass shields on three sides. The built-in damper helps you manage the fire, and the ash drawer below keeps the clean-up easy. Insulation material and touch-up paint come with it, so small marks on the black mild-steel finish are quick to put right.

SLOW EVENINGS IN
The lamps are low, the logs are stacked and the fire glows behind its glass shields. Pull the couch a little closer, sink your feet into the rug and let a winter evening at home take its time. One more cup of coffee, one more chapter, one more log on the grate.
The flagstone floor, furniture, rug, lamps and décor are not included. Plan the hearth, flue and clearances with an independent installer.
A LITTLE PRACTICAL THINKING
THE FUEL
Burn wood or anthracite on the basket grate. Home Fires says coal and briquettes must not be used in this fireplace, so keep them out of the fire.
THE HEARTH
The Home Fires manual for open fireplaces asks for a hearth at least 350 mm in front and 200 mm at each side, and 1,000 mm between the fire and furniture or curtains.
THE FLUE
A 1.2 m and a 2.4 m pipe with one joining collar come with the fireplace. Keep the metal flue 200 mm from wooden roof trusses. Extra pipe and collars are options on this page.
MEASURE THE WHOLE SETUP
Plan the fireplace and the flue stack together.
The fireplace is 930 mm high to the top of the hood outlet, and the 3.6 m flue stack goes on top of that. These are product dimensions, not a building opening, so have your installer check the actual unit, the hearth and safe clearances.
GOOD TO KNOW
Read your installation manual before you plan the hearth, the flue and the installation.

Home Fires gives a heating volume of 120 m³ for the Alpine 800. That is the maker's room-volume guide, not a kW rating or a promise for your room: ceiling height, insulation and draughts all play a part. Ask us if you need a kW figure before you choose.
Yes, a 3.6 m stack: a 1.2 m and a 2.4 m pipe with one joining collar, plus the escutcheon plate. A taller roof can need more pipe, and extra flue pipe and collars are options on this page. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote, and we confirm the cowl and any extra parts for your roof.
At the outlet on top of the hood, which measures 340 mm across the flats. The fireplace is 930 mm high to the top of that outlet. Keep the metal flue at least 200 mm from wooden roof trusses; the Home Fires manual explains the options when the space is tighter.
The base is 900 mm wide and 675 mm deep, and the fireplace is 930 mm high to the top of the hood outlet, with the 3.6 m flue stack above. The hood is 815 mm wide. These are product dimensions, not a building opening. Have your installer check the actual unit and safe clearances.
The Home Fires manual for open fireplaces asks for a hearth that reaches at least 350 mm in front of the fireplace and 200 mm at each side, and 1,000 mm between the fire and furniture, curtains or anything else that can burn. Your independent installer confirms the final layout for your room.
An open, vented fireplace. The fire sits behind glass shields on three sides, supplied in two sections, and the built-in damper helps you manage the fire.
Paint and maintain the fireplace regularly: the guarantee asks for it. Touch-up paint comes with the fireplace for small marks on the black finish. Empty the ash drawer only when the ash is cold.
Home Fires guarantees the firebox for 15 years from purchase against faulty workmanship or material under normal use. Replaceable parts such as glass panels, grids, grates and ash pans are excluded, and so is rust from adverse conditions, no maintenance, misuse, water leakage or installation damage. Replacement installation and delivery costs are not covered.
