AN OPEN FIRE, BUNDLED

Open fire.
Warm welcome.

The Mynx radiates warmth from its open front, with a heavy-duty carbon-steel fire chamber and a tapered smoke hood in one freestanding unit. Use the built-in damper to manage the fire, keep the logs in the log pan and let the ash drawer handle the tidy-up. Burn dry, seasoned hardwood and keep the area in front clear.

Joints overlap, so the 3.6 m nominal flue is not the installed height. Send us your measurements for a flue quote.

GOOD TO KNOW

Plan your setup.

Read the installation and operating instructions in the bundle before you plan the installation.

What is included in the bundle?

The wood-burning Mynx body includes its damper, log pan and ash drawer. The bundle also includes a poker, three 175 mm × 1.2 m mild-steel flue sections, storm cowl, ceiling plate, ceramic wool insulation and installation and operating instructions. The hearth and installation are not included.

Do I need extra flue sections?

That depends on the roof height, route and termination point. Three 1.2 m sections are included. Their 3.6 m nominal total is not the final installed height: joints overlap and the route must suit your roof. Add up to five extra 175 mm sections, or send measurements for a configuration quote.

How much space does the fireplace take?

The published body dimensions are 530 mm wide, 395 mm deep and 966 mm high. The flue connection projects above the body. These dimensions do not include room clearances, a hearth or the installed flue height.

How much heat does it give?

The Mynx gives radiant heat from its open front. We do not have a published kW rating for it. Send us your room size and we will help you check the choice.

What hearth and floor support are needed?

Use a suitable non-combustible hearth and keep combustible furnishings clear of the open fire. Have a qualified installer confirm the hearth size, floor support and all clearances for your room.

What about ventilation and the roof?

An open fire needs a reliable air supply and a correctly fitted flue. Have your installer assess room ventilation, nearby extractors, ceiling and roof penetrations, weatherproofing, support and the final cowl position before installation.

How are the flue joints sealed?

The flue joints are sealed with heat-resistant silicone, which is not included. Your installer fits the sections as the supplied instructions describe.

Which wood should I use?

Use dry, seasoned hardwood. Keep logs within the log pan and keep combustible items away from the opening. Never leave a burning fire unattended. Use a suitable fireguard when children or pets are nearby.

Is this a closed fireplace or a gas bundle?

This bundle is supplied for an open wood fire. It has no glass door or enclosed log base. A gas configuration requires different equipment; contact us before choosing a different fuel.

Can you help with the setup?

Yes. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote. We can help you choose the parts; arrange installation with a qualified installer. Braai Culture does not provide installation services.

What does the warranty cover?

The fireplace box has a five-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Accessories, including the flues, cowl and ash pan, have 12 months of cover. Corrosion, misuse and fair wear are excluded. Keep your proof of purchase and installation records.
