The EconoMaster keeps it simple and solid. Build the fire in the ember maker on the right, then move fresh coals under the electroplated grid as you cook. Hang a potjie on the hook for something slow. The ash pan sits below the fire, and the top and bottom doors close up the 2.5 mm mild-steel body.

Burn wood in the ember maker on the right and rake fresh coals under the grid whenever the fire needs them.

The 750 × 450 mm electroplated grid has room for chops, wors and sosaties, with the potjie hook for something slow on the side.

THE ASH

An ash pan underneath.

Ash collects in the pan below the fire; empty it once it is cold. This model has an ash pan, not an ash drawer or warming drawer.

What is included?

The black 2.5 mm mild-steel braai with top and bottom doors, an ash pan, a 750 × 450 mm electroplated grid, an ember maker, a potjie hook and a light fitting. Flue pipes and the cowl are sold separately.

Which fuel can I use?

Wood or charcoal. Burn wood in the ember maker on the right and rake the coals under the grid as you cook.

How much cooking space is there?

The electroplated grid is 750 × 450 mm, on the left. The ember maker sits to its right, and the potjie hook takes a potjie.

Is the flue included?

No. Flue pipes and the cowl are sold separately. The flue pipes are 340 × 440 mm. Send a photo and measurements for a flue and configuration quote.

How much space do I need?

The body is 1,030 mm wide, 510 mm deep and 780 mm high. The gather sits above the body, and the top and bottom doors need room to open. These are product dimensions, not a building opening. Have your installer check the actual unit, the opening and safe clearances before building.

Does it have an ash drawer or warming drawer?

No. The 1000 EconoMaster has an ash pan below the fire. The ash drawer and warming drawer come with other Homefires models.

Can it be installed indoors?

Yes. Homefires lists its built-in braais for indoor or outdoor installation. The braai needs suitable masonry support and a correctly designed chimney. Ask a competent installer to confirm the location, clearances and ventilation.

What does the guarantee cover?

Homefires guarantees the EconoMaster firebox for 5 years from the date of purchase against faulty workmanship or materials, when the fire is made in the ember maker or the ash pan. Loose, replaceable parts such as the grid, the ember maker and the ash pan are not covered, and neither is rust for any reason, misuse or water leaks, or damage from incorrect installation. Keep the braai painted and maintained. Ask us for the full terms.
